The name Spoordonk is probably a contraction of "spork", a berry bush, and "donk", which means a high sand bank in a swamp. This explains the presence of the watermill on the banks of the charming river de Beerze.

Oirschot, also called the “Green Monument”, is notable for its scenic market square and its restaurants, with terraced areas providing al fresco dining.

De Ouw Skuur lies on the border of the “Green wood”, a beautiful forest within the triangle of the three cities Tilburg, Eindhoven and ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

There are 11 nature reserves nearby which you can enjoy exploring by bike or on foot. This area is a hiker’s paradise, with 180 kilometres of beautiful walking routes to choose from.
